Arriving in a new country is certainly an exhilarating time for anyone but it can also be frightening, and a source of worry. To limit this criticality, through the Pickup activity, section members use the main social networks to get in touch with incoming Erasmus students, even before their arrival, initiating the welcoming activity and proving to be an important point of reference and support in Bari.

In addition to information activities, both formal and informal about the City and local universities, ESNers help mobile students to find, even before their arrival, temporary accommodation at an affordable price (thanks to the numerous agreements activated by the association with local hotels) and welcome them upon their arrival at the airport and/or station, accompanying them to their temporary destination.

The activity takes place in Bari during the arrival months of Erasmus students, from September to October for the I semester and from January to February for the II semester. ESN will also give each student who takes advantage of the free Pick Up service a souvenir photo of their first moments in Bari, taken by the volunteers upon their arrival, so that they could remain indelible in the memory of each arriving Erasmus. The activity is funded by individual ESN Bari volunteers.
